The bicycle that will carry me 6,000 miles across the country arrived, yesterday! It’s a beautiful blue Surly Long Haul Trucker. I have a few modifications to add including: Rear and side racks, fenders, Brooks saddle, puncture-proof tires, and a rustic red paint job. This week, I will head to Trek Stop to get this two-wheeled masterpiece sized to my body for optimum riding.
With the countdown at 3 and a half months, it’s time to kick training into high gear! Oh, did I forget to mention on May 5, 2012, Steve and I will be competing in Iron Man St. George? AKA: the hardest known iron man of all time. http://ironmanstgeorge.com/. That’s right, we are going to power house through a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a energy obliterating 112 miles on bicycle, and concluded with 26.2 blister indusing miles on foot. The Iron Man is the world’s most prestigious one-day endurance event!
The time has come to train harder than I have ever trained before. I’m back at the bottom. All that I had gained from marathon training has been lost. Compared to this, the marathon was a stroll in the park. I must once again become a machine. Let the training begin.
I believe that you can accomplish this goal.
Now, get training…
P.S. Nice ride!
dude this is legit .
Sickeningly intense.
